We started this course learning how we have used energy and what alternatives are available to us to change.  This was englightening in its own right but more was to follow.

To date I have conducted the following:

Home Energy Audit

Lighting Audit

Heating/Cooling Energy Reduction Evaluation

Home Weatherproofing Assessment

Energy Usage Needs vs Wants Assessment

I have also investigated the following:

Home Solar Panel Installation Feasibility

Home Compost Bin Construction/Usage

Rainbarrel Use for Storm water Roof Runoff Re-Use

Enhanced Recycling Policies and Procedures for Local Residential Waste Disposal

After carefully studying the weaknesses in my home's energy efficiencies, I worked diligently to correct them.  Many CFL light bulbs, a new "smart" thermostat, 6 bottles of "Great Stuff Foam Sealant" (which doesn't come off your hands very well!!!), 2 new windows, 1 new storm door, 1 new washing machine, 1 new freezer, insulating my attached garage, and a lot of sweatshirt wearing in the house during the cold winter months resulted in substantial energy reductions!!!
